THE SAD BEAUTY QUEEN
(curling brush, comb and regular brush for hair; clips and ribbon for hair accessories; eye shadow quads for left and right eyes; eyeliner brushes for eyebrows; powder foundation for nose; hairband and lipstick for mouth; necklaces around intended neck area; bowls for breasts)
My sculpture (of sorts) is a comment on the pressure society puts on females to conform to a certain kind of beauty standard. I was playing around with materials to make a face out of realised that I would, at one time, need all of the products used here to conform to the aforementioned standard. The process that a female must go through to present herself in this way is sadly intricate and time-consuming, as the downturned mouth of the face suggests. This is the face (and bowl-breasts) of a woman who hates herself for conforming, but also hates the idea of what the world will think of her if she doesn't.
